Can the Commerce Department Help You?
The U.S. Commerce Department provides assistance to the American businessperson in a number of areas. If you are a small manufacturer or a
company interested in exporting your product(s), you can benefit from the Commerce Department's expertise.
Manufacturing Consulting
The department's National Institute of Standards and Technology assists in funding more than 70 centers throughout the country to answer
questions from - and provide free or low-cost consulting services to - small manufacturers. Whether you need help selecting basic computer software or
a new manufacturing process, the Institute may be able to provide you with valuable assistance. Check out the Manufacturing Extension Partnership
website at www.mep.nist.gov for more information.
Export Information
Another division of the Commerce Department, the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service, has trade specialists throughout the U.S. and in more than
70 countries to help you if you are researching the possible export of your product(s). The specialists can provide information on foreign distributors,
industry leads, competition, export markets for your product, and overseas trade fairs. Check out www.export.gov for more information.
